On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we wish to welcome you to the international conference Sustainability in Cultural Heritage (SICH).
The conference will be held at the CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) in Rome the 11th and 12th January 2016. The conference's main aim is to create a platform to share knowledge between the whole range of professionals involved in the conservation and preservation of Cultural Heritage.
This conference will act as the final dissemination action of the SICH project (Project No. 2010329WPF_001; WebSite). The conference is organized in collaboration with the YOCOCU, Youth in Conservation of Cultural Heritage, an international non-profit organization that aims at promoting the cultural heritage conservation and the role of young professionals, researchers and students in the field of conservation and protection of cultural heritage (http://www.yococu.com).

The themes to be addressed in the 3 proposed sessions are:

1) Innovative and eco-friendly materials and methods for the consolidation, cleaning, and protection of objects of historic, archaeological and artistic value.

2) Long-term behavior of materials: interaction and degradation of materials in works-of-art.

3) Methods for diagnostics of organic materials in cultural heritage: micro-destructive and non-invasive methods and sampling strategies.

A final round table with key speakers, representatives of the different professionals involved in the field, will be exploited to open discussion on the past, the future and the topics of current interest in the cultural heritage research field.
The official languages of the conference will be Italian and English. The deadline for the abstract submission is the 30th November 2015. The number of participants is limited to 100 people due to the capacity of the conference venue.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Rome,
Maria Perla Colombini
